Does anyone have a Bat House?
I went to Disney’s Animal Kingdom and was inspired to do some environmentally friendly things in my yard. I am interested in getting a bat house. Bats eat mosquito’s and we live on a lake which is an open invitation for mosquito’s. Any suggestions or comments on the pros and cons of this idea?
do u live in cave that is where bats live
bat houses rock but tht means bats will come to your house but they would harm you. i live by a pond and we have 2 bat houses and when they come out at night we watch then i think its cool plus it gets rid of bugs and they are fun to build!!!
Had them in my old place, they are great!
easy to build, and I never noticed the mosquitos after my friends (brown bats) moved in. I had 6 bat-boxes and I lived on the lake.
hope this helps

BATMAN!!!!
Love them. My wife and I have the same issues with mosquitos. Our house sits on two acres which backs up to a protected woodland that has a creek running through it? After our first year of being eaten alive we bought bat houses. Plural. You want to have a few of them which are different sizes. One of the reason for this is that the males will use one and the females the other and if they are breeding, you’ll have another that turns into the nursery. We love them and sit out on our deck watching the bats at twilight. We also garden and put in a huge watering system that’s supplied buy rain barrels. What ever we can do for the environment we love doing.
Good luck and enjoy.
You can buy or build a bat house. A small one can be found for $15 or so. Hang it about 12 feet from the ground, preferably on the south side of an outbuilding or a tree or pole. A bat will eat as many as 1,000 mosquitoes in a single night!
Great Idea

“Remember, once you put up the bat house, it may take a few years for a bat to find it. They will come looking in the spring time, so ideally it should be hung by late winter.”
