Bats
Are bats ACTUALLY dangerous?
I was thinking about building a bat house for my science project. Bats are awesome!
But my parents don’t want one because they say bats are “dangerous”
Plus, they say that bats are messy and no one wants bats flying around.
Help me? I really want to make a bat house.
Where is the best spot in a yard for a bat house?
We tend to get lots of mosquitoes and other pesky bugs in the summertime so I was thinking about either buying or making a bat house and hanging it up in the yard. Besdies I’d like to make a habitat for the little night critters.
Got skeeters! Need bats! Please advise…?
I’ve got 3 acres, a swampy pond, a gazillion mosquitoes, and a new baby. I would love to entice some bats to my yard. I see a few here and there but not as many as I would expect- my 3 acres are pretty open but surrounded by fairly dense woods- the whole street has big yards surrounded by woods. So I have tall trees for bat houses. I would be interested in any tips to get them to choose my bat houses- or any proven good plans for building bat houses. I thought about a big neon sign over the pond that says “Good Eats” but then changed my mind, haha.
So please give me your best bat-enticement tips and I will give you 10 points, a hearty thank you, and a lifetime supply of calamine lotion. (jk about that last bit)
Thanks from Itchy and Scratchy
Aristes- I only WISH it was a koi pond. It’s a spring-fed natural pond. It’s got bass and catfish and some perch in it, I think. It’s actually not technically my pond, either, as only 1/4 of it sits on the property. So I don’t think I can introduce a foreign species to it. Is there a water treatment that’s safe for natural ponds?
How can I catch a bat living in the basement of our partially built home?
we have never seen him, only droppings in the same area for two months. Called a professional and he said he could do nothing until the house is completly closed up. We still are waiting for siding and soffit and facia. Getting kind of nervous!!
