Placement of Bat Houses
How can I move a bat house that is being used?

I’ve got a bat house on the back of my garage. I went to move a ladder that was sitting under it and about 8 flew out. There was still chirping coming from inside of it, so I’m guessing there were babies in it? I really don’t know.
I am having the house and garage painted soon, and need to move the bat house. There are many trees just a few feet away, I would move it to one of them (facing the same direction though).
How and when should I move it? I don’t want to disturb them.
p.s. I’m going to move it no matter what. When would be the best time?

How long will it take to attract bats to my bat house?
I live in Augusta, Ga. I was wondering if bats would come this time of year, or would I have to wait until spring to see them. Thank You.

Where can I hang a bat house?
We bought a bat house last year and we are looking for a place to hang it. I’ve read you’re supposed to hang them 15-20′ off the ground in a place where they get plenty of sun. The best match I’ve found so far would be the south face of our chimney, near the top (but below where the smoke comes out on the exceedingly rare occasions when we use it). Is this OK? Or is it a bad idea to have a bat house physically attached to your actual dwelling? Thanks.

Where is the best spot in a yard for a bat house?
We tend to get lots of mosquitoes and other pesky bugs in the summertime so I was thinking about either buying or making a bat house and hanging it up in the yard. Besdies I’d like to make a habitat for the little night critters.
